MY son is getting ready to turn three and has been completely potty trained for about 6 months. I think the best thing to do is to not use a pull up or diaper even at night even doctors will tell you that using them at night can confuse them and make them think its ok to use them at night. Get a plastic matteress cover, don't let them have anything to drink for a couple of hours before they go to bed, and make sure they go to the potty before laying down for the night. If my son even barely wakes up in the middle of the night I will wake him up take him to the potty even if he says he doesn't have to. I found this approach to really work he hasn't had a accident in about 3 or 4 montha and only pee in the bed a few times. Good luck

My son did this when he was young. I used to get so mad at him. He had frequent strep throat and ear infections though and when we finally told it was time to take the tonsils out the doctor that did the surgery told us that after he had his tonsils out he would quit bed wetting and sure enough he quit. I still feel guilty for all the times I got mad at him for having to wear a pull up or wetting the bed. So if your son has any tonsil issues you might have this looked into because it affects their bed wetting.

no liquids 2 hours before bedtime,, make sure he goes before bed. NO PULL-UPS only underwear and if you must put the pull-up on on top of underwear. so he never feels the diaper feel again.. these tips works great for my 3 1/2 yr old son... i was told that some kids are just bedwetters.. i hope that is not the case for your son.. good luck. jenn

Quoting Laura:

It takes longer to train them at night. Try just using a diaper at night until he seems ready to go without it. He will most likely tell you. You might also go through periods of what sees like he is having a nightmare, but he really just needs you to put him on the potty and then get him back to bed.

i agree completely my just turned 3 yr old has been using the toilet in the day for a year no probs, he also has naps without accidents but wears pull ups at night, i do wake him when i go to bed and he uses the toilet and hardly ever wets his pull ups but until its NEVER wet he will wear them. he also has no liquid after 7.15 bed at 8.30. good luck!
