Transition from cot to single bed is hard HELP!!

Hi there! My son Damian just turned 2 last month and i'm a little apprehensive about the transition to his big boy bed. We already tried this big transition back when he was around 18 mths old but he would wake during the night crying and would make his way down to our room and i was continuously walking him back with no luck of keeping him there.

We never allow him to sleep in our bed and the sleepless nights went on for weeks until we gave up and decided he just wasn't ready. We then put the cot back in his roon and within 2 nights he was sleeping through without fail. I'm guessing this could have something to do with the security of the cot surrounding him but in the large bed we put up a barrier to mimmick the cot but had no luck....

i feel i am ready to try again with the big boy bed but would love some tips on how to keep him there....i'v read many comments in the past about this subject and tried alot of things but i'm worried we are going to have the same problems. Please make some suggestions as i'm running out of ideas. Thanks :)

Just do it. When you do put him down close his door. He'll realize he can't come out. Once he's asleep and you're about to go to bed open the door and put a baby gate up. he'll prob for a few nights get up and come to the gate and cry but he'll figure it out. I don't have to do the gate now with my son. He just sits up and calls for me now.
