My daughter is 21 months - 4 weeks ago we switched her from a crib to a big girl bed. For 3 weeks we had no trouble at bedtime, starting this week she doesn't want to go to bed and cries after story time and then often falls asleep behind her bedroom door making it difficult to get into her room. Any suggestions to make the transition easier on everyone and to keep her in bed.

Thanks for the feedback - it is nice to know that my daughter is not the only one sleeping behind her door! We basically leave her once she is in bed - we don't go in and out of her room, so I it will all take a little bit of time.

I think that it is probably just a stage. My oldest child (now 3.5 yrs) did that...and occasionally will still do that, but for the most part, he's good at going to bed. My 20 month old, has gone through phases: being great at bedtime to playing in her room for an hour before falling asleep (in bed), or even falling asleep behind the door. I think that the main thing, is to just let them be, and not keep going in to get after them for being awake or out of bed. They will soon realize that it is bedtime, and eventually they will realize that "bed" is more comfy than the floor.

Maybe someone out there has a helpful hint for us to keep everyone in bed.

oh wow. My 25 month old is doing the SAME thing. She will go to bed fine but then plays for almost an hour in her room. We find her in the morning on the floor by the bedroom door. I need help too.
