Travel bed

My 18 month old is about to out grow our Pac'n Play. She only has about 3 inches left. She is not ready to change from a crib to a toddler bed. I'm not sure what to do for a bed for traveling. We often go to my in-laws for weekends. I'm looking for ideas... the cheaper the better.

We bought a portacot - not sure if they are called the same where you are. They fold out into a cot with canvas type walls and a mattress then fold down into a bag. It's easy to put up and down once you know how and our son sleeps well in it. It suits from newborn to three plus, depending on the size of your child. The one we bought was about $300 (NZ) but you can get cheap versions from $80.

Get a play is just like a baby gate only it is in the shape of a square. So she will be all fenced in, and just place some blankets in there. Sleeping on the floor won't hurt that age the hard surfaces are actually best. We got ours at a local auction, but I am sure you can find them in Walmart or Target. I have the secure surround play safe playard. I love it. The only thing is older kids can push at it or lift it up. It does fold down relatively flat, it is big though, bigger then a play pen. They can run about 50 to 70 bucks depending on what you get. I got the one with the door. LOVE IT.
