Traveling with potty training 18 month old..

I recently started potty training my son who will be 18 months in a week, he is doing awesome! I would say we are about 80% potty trained. I was having some concerns about it being the holidays and going to my family's house for christmas. I was wondering if i should just take the potty with me and continue to train him there? I would hate to just put him in a diaper for the whole day just because I am not home. Also should I put him in a diaper or a pull up when we go to the store? I feel like if i put a diaper on him he just thinks he can go in the diaper. I obviously don't expect him to hold it the whole time we are at the store but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or tips for me. Thank you.

I haven't been through it yet (soon though) but i think that bringing the potty to christmas at your family's would be a good thing as soon as you get there let your son know where the potty is going to be and because of all of the excitement going on you might need to remind more than normal.
As far as going out in stores and stuff you can get the fold-able potty seats that you put on a normal toilet (I have even seen a fold-able stand alone potty) if you are worried about not making it to the bathroom you could try using a pull up just in case but if he seems to regress because of that just make sure to bring paper towel to clean up accidents and an extra pair of pants and underwear everywhere you go.

I have a 19 month old daughter and we are still in the beginning phases of potty training. However, she is good at telling me when she has to go potty and we traveled for Thanksgiving and will be for the next 2 weekends. We will be bringing her potty with because I want her to keep trying and working at it. As for the stores, if youre not going to be gone all day, I would just put him in a pull up and ask him once in a while if he has to go potty. Good luck.
