Trigger Thumb?!

Over the last 2 weeks my son has come up to me holding out his hand and his thumb is bent inwards. Kinda like at the knuckle part and he can not move it from that position. It just started over the last 2 weeks.... Some days it doesn't happen and some days it happens up to 2X a day. I can "pop" it back and he doesn't seem to be in much pain, I think it scares him more then anything for the fact that it is "stuck."
My son is 19 months old - and it is his right hand that is doing this. He is left handed... Not that I think it matters... But I was wondering if I should be concerned or if it is nothing. Or if anyone else has experienced anything like this before and what they recommend. We say the Dr. today and they said it is so so so rare in children and of course we were put on a waiting list to see a Dr. that specializes in that type of thing.
Any info would be great!
Thanks

We are waiting to hear back from a specialist. If it is "trigger thumb" it's super rare. Like 2%. Rare.
