My daughter is 14 months old, and not walking. She may take a few steps, but, she'll fall, of course, and continue her path to her destination by crawling...i know this is normal, the falling and still crawling, but what i'm scared of, is if something is wrong. a lot of my friend's children kept walking once they started and they dont have any trouble. but my daughter still has trouble. Sometimes she tries to stand/walk with one of her feet turned in, and gripping the floor with her toes. Should i take her to a doctor and see if something is wrong with her feet, or should i just wait it out, and keep working with her with her walking?

i took mine to the chiropractor since he was having issues too. he's 14 months now and all of a sudden this week [he went two weeks ago to chiro] he's walking across the whole room before he falls. i was worried like you were. was told by a gal in child development that unless no steps are taken by 16 months, no worries. glad she's doing better at it.

Thanks so much! I think i'll wait a little bit before i get her feet checked since she is just 14 months, and i guess i should worry more when she turns 18 mo. lol. It's so funny though, right after i posted this, i wanna say, the next day she started walking more. She's not quite walking EVERYWHERE but she's doing better. bending her knees as well. so, so far, so good. (: I was just really worried. Thankyou again.

My son did not walk until he was 17 months I thought he was never going to do it! Firstly if you are worried about her ankles take her to the gp to be checked. I think you will find it is just that her ankle ligaments are not strong enough yet to hold her weight. As soon as she does start to take a few steps get her some shoes which will reposition the ankle to the right place and support her ligaments. My daughter turned her right foot inwards when she started to walk and I was worried but now she is more stable on her feet it has corrected it's self.

the average age for a baby to walk is between 11 months and 18 months. My daughter was doing the exact same thing as your daughter and when she turned 17 months i went to see our paediatrician. she wasn't concerned as my little girl had another month to get herself up and going. No jokes....the very next day (it was as if she understood that i was soooo concerned about her) so walked and kept walking...everytime she fell, she would get herslf up again and continue walking!!! Being my experience, i can say not too worry but as a mum, i know how hard it is not too worry so if you need to, see your paediatrician for peace of mind. good luck with it all xoxo
