Twins will be 4 in August, still not potty trained

They will pee most of the time, but have at least one accident per day. As for poop, they will do everything they can to avoid it, including hiding. Here is what I tried: rewards charts, lots of praise, their own stool covers to sit on the potty, making them clean out their own pants when they poop, telling them big boys go poop in the potty, etc. etc. The only way I can get them to poop in the potty is if I actually catch them in the act and get them on the potty in time. I have tried making them sit there at certain times of the day, but they do not go the same time every day.

Please help! Everything I have read says they will outgrow it on their own, but I have been working with them since they were 2 and I am now afraid I will have 4-year-olds who still have to wear diapers in certain situations. I will be so embarrassed if they go to preschool pooping and peeing in their pants. Help me!

Yay, thanks for the reassurance, although I am hoping they are not 4 1/2 before they poop in the potty! Don't think I can handle washing poopy underwear that long!

Yes, Michelle, I got those reminders from my MIL about how her kids were all potty trained way before they were 2, and not only that, none of her 3 kids EVER had an accident! Not one of them EVER peed their pants! LOL

Been there, get them around older kids. Invite an older kid they look up to to your house and ask them to help. They will want to be big boys just like their friend.

I do know one thing..the more you push..the more they resist...I learned that the hard way with my oldest daughter

She finally stopped pooping her pants the summer before kindergarden started ...4 1/2 yrs old....only after we stopped pressuring her.

My 2 year old is potty trained..but we never pushed..and hardly paid attention ..she trained herself practically. I was afraid to show too much interest and have the same experience with her as with our first.

My brother-in-law has a 4 year old boy that just got trained like 3 months ago. What he did was that if they were at home he would be necked and run away with no clothes on. The more we all told him to go potty the longer it was taking him to go on his own....until one day he went on his own.

So I think it is when they want to get out of that stage but I can be wrong. They will out grow on their own. Just give them some time & u will see.

They will outgrow it. I thought my twins would never get potty trained, but they did literally one month before turning 4. My other two boys were a little bit after 3 before being potty trained. When I voiced my concerns to my Pediatrician she told me you don't see many kids graduating high school who aren't potty trained (unless they have issues).

It will happen just talk about it with them and ask them if they have to go potty. I've found with all my boys the more 'tricks', games, etc I did the more headaches and depressed I got. When they were ready they literally told me they were and they were basically day and night trained except for some minor accidents.

Good luck and be patient. Don't compare your kids to others or you'll get upset. Your boys are uniquely themselves.

p.s. I don't know about you, but it drove me crazy listening to my mother tell me how all her kids were potty trained by two. Whatever:) BTW, obviously insert whoever you want for mother.
