My baby (15 months) sleeps through the night from 7.30pm like a lamb - but she wakes up WAY too early. 5.00am is not uncommon and this morning she was ready for breakfast and playtime at 3.30am!! Help, please!

That's awesome - so just treat it like regular sleep training. I was worried that she only needs so much sleep at night and maybe I should move her bedtime later? The sleep expert book I got said that that's the wrong thing to do, though, so I was lost.

I will defiinitely try this out, thanks so much.

I have a 17 month old and he goes to bed at 7:00 and he is usually up at 6:30. For a while he was waking up around 5 when my husband and I would start getting ready for work and it was hard to keep him entertained and be ready to get out the door at the same time. We just started waiting for a while before we went into his room. Most of the time he would fuss for about 5 or 10 minutes then go back to sleep. Now he sleeps until 6:30 usually before waking up. He has learned that we come get him when it is time. If he wakes up earlier now, we just go in and make sure he has his pacifier and then lay him back down and he will usually go right back to sleep.

My 2 year old used to do that.  What I did when he was younger was keep him in bed until at least 7am.  I would get up give him a drink then tell him it is night night time still and to go back to sleep.  He would cry the first couple of times then he got used to it and eventually started sleeping later.  Now that I put him in a big boy bed he is starting to wake a 6 am.  Now I just have some cereal in a baggie in the kitchen so when he wakes he gets the cereal, turns on the TV (pre-set to cartoons)  and gets his cup out of the fridge so me and my 4 year old can get another hour of sleep.  Hope this helps.
