My daughter, Jolie, was borne only a month early and in every other stage of her development is on schedule or ahead of schedule, except her walking. She is now 18 months and walks around furniture and walls, but has only taken a few steps on her own.....and she walks sideways when she does. Has anyone else experienced this?

I say don't worry about it. I was born at full term but didn't even stand on my own til I was 10 months. It happens at different times for each child. The guidelines for children are just that; guidelines. My husband and I joke that they were written by people how sit in an office and do not have little one's of their own. Meaning there is no real set time for each child. She will get up and go when she is good and ready:)

Good luck,

M

every child walks at a different time so I wouldn't worry (I know, it's hard not to) Just be patient and encourage her to take steps on her own. You will be wishing for the days of not walking when they start!
