I have not allowed my daughter to have the swine flu jab as I do not believe it has been tested enough. My best friend is a nurse at the high dependenc unit and she has had the jab. She was quite ill with it and so were her collegues. She decided that it was not necessary for her children to have it. People seem to forget that you can die from ordinary flu but only the elderly are given a free jab each year. In my opinion it is a load of hype by the government make sure you go into this with your eyes open and read all the information available to you. Just think have you heard any thing on the news about swine flu in the last two weeks.....NO!

my kids are a bit older than yours and they both had it, and so did i, but we do live in canada, where as far as i can tell it has been tested alot more (moved from uk 20 months ago!). all i can say is that YOU make the decision as its your children. and whatever YOU decide, IS the right decision as you do what you think best. as parents we cant do anything more. good luck x

My son had his early on (former preemie) and I had mine as soon as I found a clinic that had them available.

H1N1 is a big deal in my state (NY) and I know of several otherwise healthy children in our area who were hospitalized because of it. I don't even live in a big city where there is a lot of exposure.

We had no ill effects other then the sore arm.

hi im with louise on this one,i didnt get it or agree to giving it to my 3 yr old,its all hype by the media, there is not enough research gone into this vaccine and everybody is in a panic about swine flu.i have been told by a doctor that if your child is healthy and does happen to catch it,then its no worse then an ordinary bout of bad flu.

i don't see any reason to do it at all. it isn't new. swine flu's been around since at least 1918. even watched a re run of Murphy Brown and they were talking about it. My doc said the flu is the flu and there are constantly different strains and it's not really worth it. child could get sick from vaccine, then get a different strain and get it again. i trust my doc. not getting it for either kiddo.

Hi, my 3 year old daughter is due to have her jab on the 5th March and I'm going to get hers done! I researched this a LOT online and came to realise the pro's outweigh the cons. Obviously, they have not had long to test it but getting ill from the side effects of the jab is not nearly as bad as catching swine flu when they don't have a jab, I would rather my daughter be ill for a few weeks (at worst) than die from swine flu! Also, the jab is about PREVENTION and PROTECTION, if having the jab saves hemy daughters life and helps prevent other children catching it then I'm going to go for it. I also have a 7 month old son who I plan on getting vaccinated.

The age group in the high risk catagory of dying from swine flu is 6 months to 5 years, I think you should seriously reconsider, of course we are all worried about our children, I really didn't want my children vaccinated at first but after researching I'm hoping I made the right decision.

I hope I didn't come across like I was telling you what you should do, I didn't mean it like that, I just wanted to tell you my findings. Hope it helps a bit. :)

I have had the shot and so have both my sons. I'm not here to start conflict with anyone about this cause it seems this is as controversial as it gets sometimes. But I feel that this vaccines were made for a reason. My older son received his as soon as they had one available for him and I because I am pregnant. My younger son received his about a month and a half ago (when he was of age and that was the other reason it was so imperative for his older brother and me to get it), he did get a little sick but it may have been another shot he received that day. We aren't sure but he got over it within a few days. Both of my sons have respiratory problems when they get sick so it was not an option, they had to have it.
