Weaning from the bottle?

[deleted account] ( 5 moms have responded )

How do I wean my son from his last bottle of the day? We integrated it into his bedtime routine and he expects it now after his bath! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I'm trying to get him to not need a bottle (or any feeding) at night before bed. Although, maybe it would help if I gave him a little snack and a cup of milk before his bath? He can drink from a sippy cup, but I'm worried that he'll grow dependent on the routine we've established in order to sleep.

are you trying to get him to drink from something else before bed, or just cut out the need to feed/drink before bed?

we just cut it out cold turkey. sucked for about 3 days, but then he was fine.

Bath tub is a great spot to try drinking from a big boy cup. Getting excited and encourage him to have a drink while in the tub instead of after it.

For me I found that using a sippy with the silcone top worked great. Its the same texture as the bottle but its not a bottle. Once my son started biting it i took the sippy away and switched to the plastic kind. Try offering it slowly at first then once he gets used to it hide the bottles and do not give in it only makes things harder. hope it works for you. GOODLUCK!!!
