Benji at age 2, hated his toddler bed and refused to sleep in it... he sleep with us and scream every time he was in it.My 15 yr. old nephew got a new bed set and gave Benji his twin trundle bed set. He loves it.... he has slept in it every night since we put it up, no screaming or nothing.

A big bed or toddler bed? I put my son in a toddler bed around 2 and within 8 months he grew out of it and I bought him a toddler bed. He's also a lot taller than most his age so that being said when ever you feel the time is right and the child is ready for that big step.

All depends on the child. As long as they are not trying to climb out of their crib than we never rushed it...but the moment they tried getting their legs over the rails in a todder bed they went!

I think it depends on you. My daughter was in a toddler bed at 15 months old and my son was 14 months. They both walked at an early age and kept crawling out of their cribs. I was more concerned about them falling over the crib wall when climbing out so I put them in beds. They are now 5 and 3/12 and love their beds.

With my eldest we put her in a twin bed at 16 months. She loved it and we never had any problems with her getting out or falling out. My little one will be moving to a twin bed next month and she will be 21 months.

i say either when they start climbing out of the crib, or when u feel the child is ready.... I put my son in a toddler bed at the age of 2... he never climbed out of his bed, but i knew he was ready.... he now sleeps in a 3/4 bed and LOVES it!! I even went out and bought him new sheets and drapes for his room...

My daughter was in a toddler bed when she was 18 months, she's 3 now and I would be quite happy with her in a normal bed, but since she's tiny she is not even close to outgrowing the toddler bed and since it cost so much I'm gonna leave her in it for a while.

When you feel the child is ready. We got our eldest son a single bed when he was 22 months old and he did just fine sleeping in it, in terms of not falling out. However, he wasn't quite ready to be out of the family bed at the time, so he went back and forth for some time. Now, he's nearly 3 1/2 and he sleeps in it happily.

If you involve the child in the choosing of the bed covers and make a big deal about having his own "big boy bed", it makes the transition easier. But go slowly if there is resistence. It will happen when the child's ready.

Good luck!
