Ideally you should be waiting till your son is 6 months but nevertheless if you want to start right away introduce him to plain dal water, rice kanji, ragi. These are easier to digest.

you actually shouldn't add cereal to their bottles it's a choking hazard............

If the oatmeal (or other cereal) binds your child, add prune juice to the bottle. :)

baby cereal is a good start. It helps add iron to their diet. I mixed mine with formula and all my children loved it. :)

I agree with both ladies, around that age infant cereal and baby food. I use to mix my infant cereal with the formula then add some fruity baby food to it. My boys loved it. Good luck Bhawna

When my son was 5 months old I had just started giving him infant oatmeal mixed with either formula or breast milk. Also, you can mix it with a bit of pureed vegetables or fruit. That's really all he can eat right now is pureed type foods. Most babies really love fruit because they're a bit sweet.

well since he's only 5 months, you should be introducing him to the baby cereal, baby foods like vegetables, fruits.
