What do you do if your 3 year old fights bedtime and has trouble sleeping in her own bed all night?

Over the last few months it has been very tough to get her to go to sleep and stay in her own bed. There has been some nightmares but not very often. Now we have to lay with her for quite awhile before she goes to sleep and she frequently gets up in the night to crawl in with us. She is healthy and her night routine is the same. Meadow was always a very good sleeper up until a few months ago so we're not sure what to do about this. We all need a good night's sleep so any advice is appreciated.

I would suggest gradually weaning her away from needing you to lay with her by moving further away from her each night i.e first couple of nights sit by her bed, then move to the middle of the room etc... although it will be distressing for your little one and consequently on you, you must ensure you dont interact with her and are just a reassuring presance in the room. Eventually she'll settle and get used to it.

Hopefully this will help with her climbing into bed with you as she'll have learn't to distance herself from you again knowing your stll close by.

A friend of mine had to do the same thing and although it took some time and patience they are all the better for it. Hope this helps
