Hi all,

In the States we just experienced the end to Daylight savings time. Last year it wasn't a problem as my son was only 2 months old. He is now 14 months old and of course he his own "clock". He usually wakes up around 5:30 for breakfast then goes back to bed until 8am. This morning he woke up at 4am (in the past to avoid feeding him too early, we would cuddle with him then he would wake up to eat then go back to bed). We tried our trick of cuddling and that worked fine. He woke up at 5:30 wanting food. We fed him. When we tried to put him back to bed, he "complained". I told OH that I wasn't going to give in to him and get him up because I want his schedule to be right and him be in a good mood. After about 30 minutes, he settled back into sleep. He is my first and I just wanted to make sure I handled it right. Thanks.

My son is also 14 months... when was your born? Mine's sept. 10th (which makes mine 3 days short of 14 months). Normally my son goes to bed around 7-8pm and sleeps until 8am, but will play quietly until 8:30 or 9am (then he calls for me to get him, cuz he's hungry & bored). Well last night he faught his sleep so he didn't get to bed until almost 10pm. Then decided to wake up at 7am and call for me 15 minutes later!

I think what you did was great! Sounds like you're great mom!

I think it gets harder as they get a little older. My son usually sleeps until 8:00am. This morning he was up at 6:00am. He is now 2 1/2yrs old. Last year and the year before I noticed it didn't affect him at all. This year it definitely got us. I think the way you handled was perfect. It sounds like it worked good for you. I was trying to convince my son to keep sleeping but it didn't work this time. We will see what the day brings. Hopefully his sleep tonight will be back on schedule.
