What is the best way to disciplin a 2yr old? He is too young to understand certain commands. But throws his toys and bottle.

Timeout works in our house for our 2 yr old, also. We have also taken toys away. They really do understand alot and talking to them helps alot.

My little boy is 2 and he understands time out. You would be surprised at how much they understand. When he throws a toy tell him that's not how we treat our toys and if he throws it again you will take it away. If he continues to throw toys, take them away and put them somewhere where he can see them but can't reach them. If he continues to throw them warn him that we will go to time out when he does it again put him into time out for 1 minute per year of age (2min), explain why he is going, sit him in a corner in the room facing the wall (the first few times he may have to sit in your lap facing aaway from you). After the 2 minutes explain to him why he was in time out, have him say sorry and give you a hug. I know it seems like they wont understand but we started this process at about 18 months he is 25 months now. If I ask him to do something and he says no twice I ask him if he wants to go to timeoue. His responce is always no so I then say then please pick up your toys and he does it!! It may take a little time, but I promise he understands commands like no throwing, no hitting, no biting, etc. Good luck!!
