My son is turning 4 and can whine with the best of them. When he does I look at him and tell him 'I don't understand what you are asking me so when you are ready to ask me in a big boy voice and not whine try again." He immediately stops.

I think that is the joys of having a girl. I do know that there are some whinie boys out there, but I think in general girls bring the drama and whine. What I do is if my daughter is talking to me in a whinie voice I will tell her that she needs to talk nicely and not whine for me to listen to her. Then I go on with whatever I am doing and only stop to listen to her when she talks normally. If it is whining for attention or because she did not get her way I let her know that if she wants to continue to whine it needs to be in her room, but if she wants to be out with the rest of us the whining needs to stop. If she continues to whine and does not go to her room on her own I would pick her up and put her in there. Another option is for you to leave the room and totally ignore the whining. If she realizes that she is not getting the attention she wants she will stop.

These "tricks" do help minimize the whining, but I am not sure if the whining will ever stop altogether.
