My lady is nearly 17 mts old and has just recently started on cow's milk, she hated it at first, but then she got the vomiting bug a few weeks back and has gone off all her proper foods and constantly wants bottles of milk. I mean she will roar the place down unti she gets one and will not sleep the night unless she gets a bottle!!

Give her a little time to get over her bug then you're going to have to get firm, 17/18 months is deffinatley old enough to come off bottles any older and it's not good for their teeth. Drinking is an easy thing to do, much easier than eating and children will quite often choose the easy path if we let them but in the long run it's not always for the best. Unfortunatley there is not always an easy answer for us as parents and we have to do things the hard way. She may well scream and refuse other foods but it won't last. Give milk in other ways like in yogurts and cheese, cereal and even some ice cream. Try giving cereal before bed to fill her up with a sippy cup of milk. They will forget about bottles soon but at the time it seems to last forever but once it's gone it's gone for good and they need to get rid of it at some point or else you'll end up with a three year old still on bottles - now is a much better time to have the battle than later. She won't starve and you will win, it's not going to hurt her to give it up, it's for the best - good luck!!

hi honey my son is 21 months old and he has a drink of milk 3 times a day.. in his sipper cup i got him off his bottle and dummy at about 16 months old.. if she dont want food well milk keeps her from not getting hungry so if she wont eat food you will need to keep going with the milk so she gets the calcium she needs.. my son went through a stage where he never wanted food but i kept trying with him but i kept going with dairy products... hope this helps a bit..
