i heard once either very young (3 months) or much older (12 or 13). Anything in beween will result in them touching their ears a lot and increasing risk of infection, etc. I pierced my daughter's at 3 months. She didn't cry long, and now (at 3 yrs) she appears to consider them a part of her, and never messes with them. i don't regret my decision, but it may not be for everyone :)

& if you do it while they are an infant, you dont have 2 worry about them PLAYING with or pulling on the earrings and they HEAL faster! =)

best 2 get them done between 2months old - 6months, & professionally done is best for INFANTS & they use the guns which is QUICK & EASY =)

My husband did our daughter's when she was one week old. She didn't even cry. For us it's just traditional for girls to wear earrings from an early age, it's no big issue just a standard thing we do.

We got our daughters ears done when she was 2 1/2. We asked her if she wanted earings and told her that it would hurt for a little bit. Of course I know that a 2 year old doesn't really understand what that meant, but we let her pick out her earrings, sat her on the chair and they did both ears at once by gun. There were a couple tears, but as soon as she saw them in the mirror she was all smiles. She was very proud of her earrings and showed them off to everyone. We've never had a problem with them and she's really good with letting us clean them etc. She's now 3 1/2

We did our daughter's at 2 months old she is 9 months old now and we have never had a problem (yet) If she started pulling on them we agreed before we had it done that we would take them out. We had the gun used but got both ears done at the same time she cried just like when she got a shot and was over it really fast. I asked her dr about it before and she said it was ok at 2 months as long as she was up to date on all her shots.

Why not wait until she asks for it and understands what will happen?

I've heard a needle is better.

I'd say when she's old enough to fairly express that she wants them done and to understand not to touch them and at least a bit about how to take care of them.
