I started my son last summer when he was 18 months old he is now 28 months old and almost completly potty trained. I say the sooner the better. your teaching them habbits. The older they get they seem to not want to go because you want them to go. I have a friend that waited until her son was 3 and he is now 4 1/2 and still has accidents and just doesnt care.

Boys don't get it right away.  My son had this breakthrough around 2 1/2 when he started talking fairly well.  You have to grin and bear it and put him in underwear (get ready for lots of laundry).  Now that it's getting warmer it's a good time because you can let him run around in only underwear and he;ll then also see the puddle he makes and feel it running down his legs.  My son had a hard time because we were also trying to break him of his binky.  We'd tell him big boys go potty and also big boys don't use binkies.  He decided that since he wanted his binky he didn't want to be a big boy, so he wouldn't use the potty.  One day all of a sudden he told us that he was a big boy, didn't want his binky, and he potty trained himself (except for poop and bedtime) in a week.  Sticker sheets were great...he loved getting stickers.  He got candy for pooping.  Boys have to be ready though, have there be some goal for being a big boy.

My son is 2 and we just started to potty train him. We tried over the summer but he just wasn't ready. The only advice i can give you from my experience is try not to use pull-ups. My son thought is was just another diaper and he kept going in it. I bought him some plastic underwear. With these if he goes he still feels very wet and uncomfortable, but it reduces the amount of pans you will go through!! lol
