hi, its all depending on your daughter. My 1st went to a single bed aided with a bed rail at 14 mths, and my 11 mth old is now in a single bed which has rails all around (top half of a bunk bed) and he loves it. So its up to you as every child is different.

My eldest was moved to a big bed (not a toddler bed) at 14.5mths old, she absolutely loved it. We just put a spare mattress & cushions on the floor next to it in case she fell out, which happened once per night. My youngest was put in a big bed around 22mths old (waited longer due to central brain sleep apnoea, which resolves itself around 2yo). Both loved it & had no problems, they were excited to be in their new bed.

As long as he/she isnt trying to climb out then I would hold out as long as possible....When we switched our daughter to a bed I was really missing her crib :) running out of her room...no more bedtime routine....

My son went directly into a double bed at 2 years but we were initially planning to do it when he was 18 months so we could put his brother in the crib. He was also ready because he moved around too much in the crib and would get marks on his forehead from sleeping pressed against the bars. We just put extended bedrails up on the exposed parts of the mattress and left a small "out" for him. He aslo has a step down for him to get off the bed. Another suggestion that i heard my work is to babygate the doorway so that he/she cannot leave the room during the night and the door can be left open. We are pretty lucky because my son just sits on his bed and calls out to us if he needs us rather than trying to leave his room. He also likes having his door closed to sleep. We gave him a small lamp (ikea and totally kidproof plastic) that he could turn on and off if he needed to if he had a bad dream - and he is very proud of his grown up lamp. Also, because he was getting up very early - we put darkout curtains on in his room and encouraged him to go back to sleep when he wakes to early. So far it is working and he's been sleeping in until 7am compared to the months of 5am he had in the crib. Also let your child help choose the sheets and blankets to make it special! He/she will love it!

We have a convertible crib and converted it to a toddler bed when my daughter was 19 months old. She got moved to a toddler bed at 20 months, as we're pregnant and I was not buying a second crib, convertible or not :) We've had no issues with her and she loves being able to get in and out of bed herself. We do keep her door closed at night because the last thing I want is her wandering around the house at night while we're sleeping :)

i put my first son in a toddler bed at 11mos old (acctually a baby matress on the floor) cause he was pretty young and moved around alot i was scared he would fall out if it was off the ground, this happened because his crib broke and we didnt want to buy another one for him to sleep in for only a few months. My second son i put in a toddler bed at 18mos because he was climbing out of his crib. it was a little hard the first 2 nights putting him back to bed alot cause he didnt understand why he could get out of bed now and why he would stay there if he didnt have to but it only took 2 days and now he sleeps better then ever!

Hi this is Cecilia and I have 2 young children 2 1/2 and 27 mths and they both have a toddler beds with the secure rails on the side to keep them from falling off the bed plus it is very low and is easy for them to get off and on and is safe. I got them sleeping in their beds when my son turn 1 1/2 yrs old because he was climbing out of his crib and onto to the floor.

i was always told when they start getting out of their crib on there own is when you should but idk to me that just says put higher bars on it. lol. i have a 3 in 1 crib so the side doesnt come down on it and some nights im thinking about changing it to the toddler bed because im verticaly challenged and my 20 month old son is getting so heavy that its hard to lift him up over then down to lay him in there.

My two boys are 3 and 2 years old. They were both moved into a toddler bed around 15 months old. We are planning to do the same with our 5 month old when he's 15 months old. I only had problems with my oldest but it didn't take long for him to get use to it.

My daughter was a year and a half when we got her a big girl bed. She loved it, she is three now and would rather sleep on the couch. Hopefully, that doesn't last for too long!

My son is now 2yrs and 3 months old. He is still in his crib. He has never tried to climb out and doesn't jump in his crib. I think it is just safer for him to remain in his crib for as long as he is okay with it. His safety is one of my greatest concerns. Everything is baby proofed for him but you never know what is going through their little heads.

Really, I think it's whenever you want to and it's a good, calm time in your child's life. For my son, it wasn't a big deal. He hated his crib, cried for hours at bedtime when he was in it. We switched him at about 18 months and it's been an enormous difference ever since. He's a big boy (was the recommended 35 inches when we switched), but never tried to climb out. If you think she can tolerate the switch, go for it. I'd keep the crib set up for a few days just in case it doesn't work out, though I wouldn't worry too much about it.

My son is 29 months old and is still sleeping in his crib. He's never tried to climb out, and might be able to sleep in a toddler bed, but I figure if he'll stay in the crib, he's safer that way. I think it depends on your child, their maturity, how they deal with change, etc.

I put my son in a toddler bed around 16 months old, he's 2 1/2 now and he has done great having a bed instead of a crib. It mostly depends on if your daughter is ready for a toddler bed, if you feels it time then get her a bed.
