I don't think it's too early. Every child is different, and my son wasn't potty trained until he was 3. I've always heard boys take longer than girls. I don't know how true that is, but nevertheless - we introduced him to the potty around 18 months. I would suggest that you make sure your child doesn't mistake the potty for some kind of new game, I've heard that happens with some children. We setup a routine, as soon as we got home from daycare - we went straight to the potty and I would sit him on the potty. Even if he didn't go tee tee, I wanted to get him used to the bathroom as a whole and what it's used for other than bath time. We would do the same thing again right after dinner, and again right before bed. As he got closer to the age of 3 he showed more of a mature, "grown up" kind of interest, but it boiled down to he wasn't going to use the potty until he was ready, so I made sure I had a lot of patience. It gets very tiresome, slightly aggravating at times, but he finally got it as long as I didn't push him.

my daughter was 15 months when she showed interest in going on the "nig girl potty". i found the books to be helpful as guidelines, but not every thing works for everybody some things work for some while it doesn't for others. but she is now 3 & fully potty trained & my sone is 20 months & has no interest in going on the toilet whatsoever. so it really all depends on the child. try it & see one day maybe they'll like it or maybe they just aren't ready. but good luck hope i helped a little bit!
