On the parenting.com website there is a great article on potty training. It pretty much says when they are ready. But it also says 18 months to 3 years. That is a huge age range. My daughter is 20 months, and I bought her a potty. She sits on it when "we" go to the bathroom, but she is still clothed and in diapers. I know she is not ready for the real thing, but at least she knows its there and is comfortable with it. My sister is training my neice who will be 3 soon. She tried for 3 months and it did not work, Then she stopped for a month break and boom! it happened. Madison was all of a sudden ready and was trained with in 2 weeks. It just depends on the child.

My little is almost the same age, I think I might try this as well.. slowly of course, as I do not want to force him if he is not ready, but I like the idea of taking him in with me and asking him if he want to... I have a friend that gets her son to sit on the toilet before bath time and in the morning, to encourage him to do so.. this started because he enjoyed drinking the bath water...
