My daughter is almost 3 and been wee'ing on the potty for a long time but she will still not do a poo. She has a corner in our kitchen where she stands or in my partners house but she will not do it in a potty. I have tried putting the potty in the corner but it still does no good, I have tried holding her on the potty but she can stop herself doing it. She has done it once and I praised her and cheered and she knew she was a really clever girl but she hasn't done it since and I don't know what else I can do. Any one able to help?!

My son finally started going regularly on the potty. Had been peeing for a while but would refuse to poop. He too would stand in a corner and yell " no look!" if we saw him while he was going. Some children are afraid to poop in the potty. The security of having something right against their bottom while going makes it easier. I don't know if this sounds a little cruel or not but once he was good enough to go pee w/o needing us right there we took his pull-up off. He pooped in his pants a few times and it really upset him. Nothing else worked! Once he realized if he pooped again it would go down his leg he started asking to go to the bathroom.

I know this sounds hard but what i did was when my daughter needed to go was either sit her in front of the tv or give her one of her favorite colouring books and crayons to do and just left her to it. It took her mind of the job at hand and focused her mind on something else. My daughter is 4 and still to this day cannot got to the loo without a book to read. I know exactly how you all feel because i remember it all, you would try everything and anything and for me that was the only way it worked. I wish you all the best of luck.

I haven't been able to get my daughter to poo either.... she has very little issues peeing on the potty, and hides every time she poos now!! I have been trying to bribe her (as bad as it sounds) but it has been working awesome for her peeing. maybe you could try that with her. If she actually pees she gets a mini treat... like 3-4 chocolate cover raisins, of pieces of fruit snack, something that she really likes. I am going to switch to stickers soon.... and then totally ween her off the reward/ bribery system.
