Are they waking for a bottle?

My husband and I just got back from vacation. Our 8 month old twin boys stayed with grandma and grandpa while we were gone. Everything seems to have gone smoothly, except for one mistake I think they made. Our twins have not had a "midnight early morning" bottle since they were like 4 months old. They still wake up some during the night, but normally we can change their diaper and they will go back to sleep. Well, while we were gone, grandpa gave them a bottle at 4 am. (I think only once, but I'm not sure) Last night they woke up at exactly 4 am and cried for 2 hours!! Are they expecting a bottle now at 4?? Or is it just an unrelated coincidence that they woke up and stayed up for a while?I changed their diaper and gave them more orajel, thinking maybe they were in teething pain, but they were hysterical! What should we do to turn this around? We used the CIO method to sleep train them, but it doesn't work when they wake up in the middle of the night, they will scream for hours!! Idk what to do!

We had the same thing happen with our B/G twins when we moved from UK to US. They were 9 months old and had been sleeping through the night since 5/6 months and they started waking up around 3 or 4am and screaming. I was advised to offer cooled boiled water in a bottle, believe it or not this worked. Three nights of waking and being offered water and they now are sleeping through again.I guess water is just not worth waking up for lol. I hope your situation gets better soon x

I would definitely NOT give them a bottle if you have already stopped. Hopefully if you just stand your ground they will get back onto your routine. I'm sure grandpa didn't mean any harm by offering a bottle. I don't know what else to tell you, except i'm sorry!
