Spotting with twins (first trimester)

I just found out that my husband and I are expecting twins, we already have a 9 month old girl. I am 7 weeks along and had an ultrasound last Friday that showed both babies looked good and had strong heartbeats. I have been having spotting on and off that ranges from pink, to bright red, to rust colored and wondered if any other moms have experienced this in their twin pregnancies. When did it go away and did it cause any problems? Thanks!

I spotted for about a week while in my first trimester. I freaked out because I had had 2 miscarriages before I had gotten pregnant with twins, but they did an ultrasound, and everything was fine. I would make sure your doctor knows though..especially if it worries you. If nothing else your doctor can ease your mind! That is what they are there for. :) I was told that as long as it wasn't heavy bleeding and I didn't experience any pain with it, then it was normal. Just due to all the changes your body is undergoing. My twins are 6 1/2 months now, and no one can even tell that they were 4 weeks early! Good luck!

At 6-8 weeks I full out bled while at work and had to go to the ER i had complications the Placenta started to pull away from the wall...I was told to go on bed rest for many weeks. Mine was due to stress and over doing myself while working, it is best to check with your doctor and make sure he doesnt recommend you standing lifting or bending for long periods of time...My girls were born happy and healthy at 37 weeks.

i had spotted off and on the same way for about a month and a half then it went away without extra girls were 7 weeks early and came home from the nicu both within 2 weeks time...they are 8 months old now...tho there is almost 2 years difference between my older girl and the's perfectly normal according to the docs as long as there's no pain or serious hemorrhaging/clots along with it...the best thing to do is to talk with your doc about it...especially something that worries my case it was plain ole stress and worry that caused it...

I am 8 weeks pregnant with twins also. I have had spotting off and on for the last 3 weeks. Colors range from orange to pink to dark brown. My doctor said it's ok as long as I'm not having pain but to be honest it scares me!!! This is my first pregnancy, my morning sickness is out of control, but it's re assuring to know I'm not alone.

I spotted to the point that the doctor thought I could be ectopic and had to have an emergency ultrasound, which is how I found out we were having twins. That was at 8 weeks and they were very healthy. No problems!

I had spotting also so I went to my doctor, and not to be the odd one out but I had placenta previa. If it was me I would go straight to the doctor, it may be nothing at all like everyone else (I hope it is) but just in case get it checked. Mine was only small amounts but then I still had to have bed rest til my placenta rose up which didn't take all that long...

I spotted quite a bit at first and had cramping which was worrisome for me, so, I went in to get an ultrasound and make sure everything was ok...that's when I find out it was twins!

I never spotted with my first (singleton) pregnancy.

Congrats on your twins! I spotted quite a bit during my twin pregnancy, but thank goodness it didn't cause any problems. I don't remember how long it lasted though.

Congratulations! I found out I was having twins when I experienced the same type of spotting and had an ultrasound done at 8 weeks... It happened for a few days on and off and stopped. It was not a cause for complications during my pregnancy. Good luck to you!!!

I have been spotting too. Different colors also. I'm now 11 weeks. My Dr. told me to stay off my feet until it went away then I could continue normal everyday things. We had a sono at 9 weeks and everything looked great.

I had light spotting at 4 weeks, and moderate bright red spotting at 8 weeks. The motto "if it's red, get in bed!" stuck in my head. I went 38 weeks and have healthy twins. It could be a number of things, but ALWAYS notify your OB if you are spotting.

I spotted for about 14 weeks, colours ranged as well. Apparantly it's common with twins. Good luck. You will be very busy with 3 under 3. I've got a 3 yr old and 20 mth old twins, it's hectic.
