My identical twins had 1 placenta & 1 sac. I spent lots of time in the hospital while I ws pregnant because on of them was not growing at the same rate as the other, Discoordinate Twins). The Dr.'s came to me at 35 wks & said you are having a c-section tomorrow, we were in Dallas & live 125 miles from there. We were not prepared at all to be having babies the very next day. Jacob was 18 1/2" long & weighed 5 lbs 3 ozs. Justin was 16 1/2" long & weighed 3 lbs 7 ozs.
Justin had to have surgery that night for a life threatening birth defect called Tracheoesophageal Fistula, basically his esophagus was not attached & the wonderful nurses & Drs noticed right away that he could not sallow basically. They later told me that if they would have fed him right away, he would've aspirated on it & the milk would've gone straight to his lungs & he could've died. That was 11 yrs ago...they still have a height & weight differene...their pics are on my profile, if you want to see. BUT they ARE identical!!!

I have boy/girl twins that are now 5 1/2 years old they have always been 1-2 lbs. apart. In fact my girl weighed more than he did when they were born and it only took a few weeks for him to pass her and he never looked back. All kids eat differently, learn at different rates, etc... Just remember that just because they are twins that doesn't change.

By fraternal boys were 7lbs 6 oz and 5 lbs 10 oz when they were born. At their 4 month check up, the were 17 lbs 4 oz and 15 lbs 6 oz. 2 months ago they were 3 lbs different. They are also an inch different in length. I was told there's nothing to worry about as long as they are individually gaining weight and are in the healthy range.

My fraternal twin girls are totally different. They are 8 years old now and one is 1 inch taller than the other and 10 lbs heavier than her sister too. They both have different body types/shapes too ! Pediatrician has said they are both fine and healthy and not to worry.

My twins were a pound apart when they were born and both have been a pound heavier or lighter than each other at some point in their 2 years. They go back and forth. One will have a growth spurt then the other one will. I don't think it's a big deal as long as they are growing and healthy.

My fraternals will be 7 this month and weighed 6lb13oz and 7lbs4oz at birh. Now he is about 60 lbs and she is about 65, I believe. Her umbilical cord was twice as big as his--and he was Baby A. They have always been built differently and had a weight discrepancy. Fraternals are as different as any other two children you would have one at a time (because they're coming from 2 separate eggs), so it's not uncommon for there to be such a difference in size or weight. My son has always been thinner than my daughter, who is built like dad and older sister. Wouldn't worry about it at all--if they are both healthy, you are truly blessed (and exhausted!).

One pound is nothing! My boys were 2 pounds apart at birth and three pounds apart at 2 months. They are still about 1 1/2 pounds apart at 2 years.

My twins were 5 lbs 5 oz and 7 lbs 4 oz at birth. They just turned 3 y/o and are still around 3 pounds apart. It's pretty normal to have twins that have weight differences. The important thing is that they both continue to grow and develop at a consistent rate. They are both very happy and healthy.... and drive me up the wall at times!!! Wouldn't change it for the world.

I have 5month old twin girls Id im sure. They had all the same measurements and weights throughout in womb and than they were born at 6lb 5oz and 6lbs 2oz now they are always about a 1.5lbs different in weight.
People always say twins cant be identical if their weights different HAHA! Get an education please!

Yes! My twins where born early, so my little girl was only 2 lbs, 3.5 oz and by little boy was 2 lbs, 8 oz at birth. Now, at 6 yrs, my daughter is 58 lbs and my son is 49 lbs, and my daughter is 3 inches taller than her brother, oh, and 2 sizes bigger in clothes!
