I'm new to this community and very interested in learning about vegetarian eating. I have a desire to improve my eating habits and I believe that increasing my knowledge of the vegetarian eating habit would improve my life. I am a mother of adult children who have children of their own. I love my family and I would like to encourage them to improve their eating habits as well.

Today I want to consciously healthy life!

Check out "Skinny Bitch," Food as Medicine" and any of the general health magazines. Skinny Bitch is a bit tongue and cheek, but all based on data and research. Some parts may gross you out. Since I am already vegan I felt I could skip over the details of the ins and outs of slaughter houses. I love "Food as Medicine" because it's about caring for your body and maintaining it before you ever get sick...a novel concept here in the U.S.where doctors really only administer sick-care with drugs. Then I just enjoy reading magaizines like "Women's Health," "Health," "Natural Health," "Vegetarin Times" and "Veggie Life"...especially as a busy Mommy without time for long books any more. Hope you enjoy your journey to better health and hope that helps. :)

HI ! I have several titles of books to suggest.
Becoming vegan (has the nutritional info you need to be vegetarian or vegan- there's also a "becoming vegetarian" by the same author, but I feel you may as welll get all the info in one book...): The Everyday Vegan, Vegan Vittles (that is a very cool book, that will give you basic recipes to be able to make your own staples), How it all vegan (this is a fun an easy cookbook, with tips and everything- there's a whole slew of them by the same author(s), but this is the first one. My copy is almost worn.
