Needing a work at home job?

Brandy - posted on 01/06/2011 ( 10 moms have responded )

Hello everyone! I am a SAHM to a 6 month old little girl and I am desperate to find a stay at home job, not a business. I have been searching the internet for over 6 months to find something and have not had any luck. It has all been business opportunities, and that is not what I want. Any suggestions?

I breed English Bulldogs. They're a LOT of work, but I'm able to stay home with my kids and that's all that matters to me! :o)

I am with an 18 year old global home-based business in the exploding industry which has over 1 million associates & growing, 70 patents, easy duplicable system in 20 countries including USA, no deliveries, work around your own families commitments, full training, travel holiday incentives to be won, a rewarding business that makes a difference in other people's lives.... As well as your own. I have been earning a residual monthly income now for over 14 years with this company.

How it all began for me....
I needed money and was desperate 15 yrs ago. I had a failed business that I liquidated and a failed marriage to boot. Then after all this my daughter was born 9 weeks premmie and she had many challenges. Things couldn't be worse. She needed extra care and attention as it was looking like she would be wheel chair bound at age 2. Her life was restricted & so was mine ...and it looked this way for the rest of her life ... & mine. I felt hopeless. And I definitely was not looking for another business!

We were attending all sorts of treatments and therapies which cost a lot. A friend told me about some products from a particular company, she started taking them in her yogurt, it made an immense difference to her brain function, memory, balance, mood & cognition in a short space of time. I was elated!
It’s now 14 years later and my daughter still enjoys these special products. She wrote her own resume a few weeks ago, got 2 x job interviews in one week and started her first casual job after school 2 weeks ago in a fast-paced food takeaway in our local shopping mall. She is now saving to go to Europe and buy her own home when she finishes college. She will begin her driving lessons in about 6 weeks. Her self-esteem is through the roof! I am so grateful to the person that told me about this incredible technology. She now has a life now ….. and so do I.
I now have been with this company over 14 years earning a residual monthly income. I have been on 6 x trips to USA & visited Disneyland, also holiday at huge resort in Cancun in Mexico & climbed the ancient Myan pyramids there, and went to Beijing & climbed The Great Wall of China with my daughter and family. This would never have been a possible before. I live in Australia.

My sister-in-law does Medical transcribing, ask around at Doctor's offices on who they use, then contact that company to see about training. Most of the time you have to go into the office to pick up the "tapes" and stuff, but then you do the work at home.

Look into this!

It’s a great way to make money working from the comfort of your home, and also allows for flexibility of juggling busy kids schedules. You can set your own hours and be your own boss! There are a lot of opportunities out there that are scams, but this is a legitimate opportunity!

I just signed up for a work-from-home job selling Internet advertising with! It pays much better than filling out surveys and it’s fun! I always miss having adult conversations, so this opportunity fulfills many needs simultaneously!

Hi Brandy,

Work from home JOBS are very, very hard to find. I say this not to discourage you but just to be honest. Most of what you will find will be business opportunities.

What you have to consider when you are looking to work from home is what are your long term financial goals? Are you looking for something to just supplement your income, maybe a few hundred dollars a month or are you looking to make a full time replacement income? Your personal financial goals are important. A work from home job will only supplement here and there but a business will allow you to build something of your own.

There is a company called Live Ops that hires call center workers. The pay will be around $8.00 an hour but with a small child this may be difficult for you. You will be expected to work certain hours of the day, evenings and weekends and they will not tolerate background noise while you are trying to take calls. You will have some flexibility as to when you work, but not much and that might not always be feasible with a 6 month old.

Jodie has a great idea about doing a home daycare/preschool. You will need to research the requirements of this type of business with your State as you will have to be licensed.

My blog has a lot of great information and ideas for moms looking to work from home. If you would like the url, you can PM me as we are not allowed to post blog links here. The information on my blog may help lead you in the right direction.

Best of luck to you Brandy and let us know how you are doing.

Hey Brandy! Have you thought about doing home daycare or something like that? I have my own business, I'm a Pampered Chef consultant, but something else I do on the side is mystery shopping. I'm not sure where exactly you're located but Market Force is located in both Canada and the US. Good luck!
