Wow - where to start. My son and I were always close but this year (10th grade) we couldn't be farther apart. He verbally abuses me, yells at me, says I am annoying, an idiot, not his mom and on and on. I try to stay calm however, I do take his iphone away, xbox and am on the verge of stopping him from wrestling. I've gotten two emails this week from his teacher's - behavior is bad and not doing homework. Today he told me to leave him alone, he hates school and now doesn't want to go to college. I know he is overwhelmed with work - he doesn't like to study. Not sure how to handle this.

You could possibly talk to his school and get an idea of who he is "hanging out" with and whether it is a possibility. Talk with the counsellor there and mention what you are experiencing, and the counsellor might be able to have a chat with him too. The school can certainly help you out with getting to the bottom of it.
