Ugh my 17 year old daughter had a boyfriend for 2.5 years and he just broke up with her. He is attending a local college but living on campus of course before he moves in he tells her how much he loves her and wants to be with her in college and blah blah blah....next week his "feelings" changed and broke up with her. She is devastated and im devastated for her. We never truly like the bf because he used to say things to her that made her feel not good enough and he would check out other girls when she was around and right in front of me. He complained several months ago that they werent having enough sex she should have dumped him then but of course not. She hospitalized for kidney failure and lost somne weight...when she was home for two weeks the bf says to her "you lost weight ur boobs got smaller" and pointed out a girl on tv with" perfect boobs!" Now is this a real bf come on now! He was also a bit of a liar even over small things..called her dumb in front of people of course she always stayed with him they broke up several times and she always ran back. Ugh i wish i could have made her see that he was a jerk! She always complained that he was never affectionate and not very supportive unless she asked for it and complements were few and far between. I used to ask why she stayed with him if she needed those things and couldnt get them from him? She wants him back so bad she is willing to sacrifice waiting for someone who could provide that true love and support! What do I do ? ITS KILLING ME!

There's nothing you can do except be a shoulder for her to cry on and and an ear when she wants to talk.

We can't "fix" everything in our child's life, they need to learn and grow through their own experiences. Just like we did.
