I just have so must trouble making the right decisions. I do not feel comfortable sending my daughther with two girl friends for a whole day hiking trip with no adults. My daughter says , I worry for no reason, and that it's perfectly safe. I feel ,an adult should be there for trips that are 4 hours away. I am very narrow minded. What do other mothers feel. It's a hiking trip to Montreal from Columbia.

Your daughter is almost an adult. I agree with her. If you believe you have raised a responsible young lady, you need to trust in her and trust that you have done a good job raising her. It's time to stop clipping her wings. If you think about it, there are worse things she could be doing.

When I was much younger than that I used to go hiking alone. My parents would barely know which area i would be in. I had a dog with me, but that's all. No cell, no friends, on a mountain full of cougars, wolves, coyotes and bears. At least your daughter won't be going alone.
