2 week old not eating

i have a 2 week old and the moment she was born they rushed her to another hospital for blood transfusions because our blood mixed. 1 week in that hospital she was safe to be transfered to our local hospital. she is now 2 weeks old and everything is fine with her but no one can get her to eat she knows how suck she has a strong tongue she used to take the whole bottle but now she won't take anything. i couldn't breastfeed because she was in a hospital an hour away and nothing came out when i pumped so she has to be on formula and i couldn't stay with her at the hospital. I now have to tube feed her. The drs. can't find anything wrong with her i have made them do every test under the sun. I just want her to eat so i can take her home. everyday she spends there is one more day my heart breaks. I don't know what to do. Has anyone gone through this? Any tips to get a stubborn baby to eat

Hi! The first thing I would do is immediately head to your closest bookstore and purchase Ina May Gaskin's guide to breastfeeding. It helped me immensely with both babies. Honestly, find a way to let the hospital have you with her AT ALL TIMES! I mean skin to skin. In the bed (which is best for both of you to recover and bond). but at the very least in a carrier or holding her on you somehow wrapped. It is extremely important to be as close as possible. Her smell will help you produce the right hormones for lactation. Her listening to you breathe and smelling your skin will do the same for her and help increase her appetite. Just let her nibble on you as much as you can. You will make milk if you lay-in with her, and she will start eating. Be very firm about being close to her. She is yours and the most important thing in the world is that you bond as soon as possible! Best of luck to you! Luv Luv

There's nothing you can do but wait. My son was 6 weeks early and didn't have the suck/swallow pattern down so he was tube fed until he was able to do it. You just have to be patient and make sure the hospital is giving her the best care that they can.

its not that i don't want tobreastfeed i can't i have a 2 year old and my husband is back to work so i can only be at the hospital once a day for an hour. also they need to keep track of her eating and i can't pump nothing comes out i had that problem with my first as well.
thay are syringe feeding her so that she will gain wieght but they will not let her come home until she does it on her own.
We've also tried so far 5 different nippples as well as putting more holes in it so she can get more per suck but so far nothing has worked i will find a latex one and try taht thank you.
but she does take a soother. very well and sucks vigerously on it but when it comes to food she refuses

you could try syringe feeding ? takes a while but alteast she will get used to taking formula orally and then things could progress from there.

Does she take a soother ?

have you tried different shaped nipples on the bottles ? you can get a wide assortment of shapes and sizes. YOu could also try latex vs silicone etc. maybe she doesnt like the feel or taste of the nipple ?
