I can not get my 2 year old son to stop swearing! He’s saying “b I t c h” and “b u l l s h I t” like its going out of style! I was in the grocery store yesterday and I told him to stay on him bum in the cart. So what did he yell out… well you can fill in the spot. It is embarrassing and I don’t know what to do. All I want to do at the time is strangle him. Lol I’ve tried soap in the mouth, hot sauce, and he doesn’t care about that at all. Now I just keep putting him in the corner and telling him it’s bad. IT’S NOT WORKING!

I'm learning the hard way that consistency is the key. I sure you know that your little one does this because of his or her circle of influence. If you or your friends have this problem this will have to stop. Because of your love for your child. Teaching a child to stop when their parents accept it is hypocritical. You can make sure you are coming down to your child's level looking them in the eyes saying, " Mommy has told you, you are not allowed to say yucky words." Tell him or her you are going to have to give them a spanking. It should sting. Speak in loving and kind tone of voice. Take your child in your arms and hug them and confirm your love. And be consistent. The corner approach leaves no lasting impression for your child. When you are in a public place you can go to a restroom or private place. Never do it in front of people, this can be shameful to your child. I hope this helps...Prayer works wonders too, but you have to be willing to change too. :)

I think that the first thing you need to do is figure out where he's hearing these 'bad words' in the first place. I have a 2 year old and she's a parrot - you say it, she repeats it, and she doesn't know the difference between "I can say this" or "I can't say that because...." Every time she hears something 'new' it's all she says for days on end. Try to figure out where these new words are coming from because no amount of punishment for saying them is going to work if he keeps hearing someone else say them.

Good Luck.
