Hey everyone,
My 2 year old sons left ear is all crusty and red behind it. It seems to be painful especially when we take off his shirt because it bends his ear. Anyone have advice on what I can do or put on it to help heal it??

If it is the outer portion of his ear, it is probably dry skin. He may fuss at his ear during his sleep. I would put some Eucerin or Aquaphor on it to keep the skin moist and flexible. Apply it several times a day. You could try a dab or 0.5% hydrocortisone cream on the red patch and then cover it with the moisturizer I described. If that doesn't clear it up, call the doctor. It would not be an emergency but he may have a mild fungal infection behind his ear, or eczema which may need a prescription strength steroid to heal.
