My son is 3 months old and right around the 15 pound mark. He is breastfed exclusively and refuses to take a bottle. He was doing a long stretch for the first part of the evening (7-9 hours) but recently has started waking about every 2 hours at night. Last night he was up at 11:30, 1:30, 4, 6, and then 7:40. I need help!!

I feel your pain.  My son did this until he was 5 months old!!!! He was ALWAYS hungry, especially at night.  It was worse right before a growth spurt and then would get slightly better.  He also started teething at TWO MONTHS so that used to wake him up and make him fuss also.  Is your son drooling more than he used to?  Try to feed him frequently in the early eavning and see if that helps, if so he's probably just growing- boys seem to have growth spurts a lot.  It is soooo hard when they don't sleep, by far the hardest part of motherhood for me.  Other mom's whose babies slept through the night early on never understood the level of exhaustion I was going through that first year.  My son finally slept well when he was about 14 months old and now is two and a half and a consistantly a GREAT sleeper (7:30-7:00, straight through every night).  Your time to sleep will come.  I just tell any new moms that just when you think you know your baby, they totally change their habits!  The good news about that is that this stage too will pass and he could suddenly start sleeping through the night.  Good luck and try to stay positive- IT WILL GET BETTER- BELIEVE THAT PLEASE!!!!

is the always hungry when he gets up? I know when I first put my son into his own room I would constantly go in at every sound he made...now I try to let him "cry" for 10-15 min if it is not the cry that sounds like he is destressed. Usually he goes right back to sleep. But if he is hungry then maybe he is in a growth spurt. I also noticed then when I started giving my baby cereal around 4 months in the am and before bed that helped with sleeping through the night.   Hope things work out.

Growth Spurt!! 3 mos is one of the big times. He needs those extra feedings and it will also increase your milk supply for him to be eating more. It will last about a week and then he will go back to normal nights again. :)

For sure it's likely a growth spurt and will go back to normal soon. Try feeding him more in the daytime or add one more feeding before 7pm. Keep yourself hydrated to keep your milk supply up. It's tiring but like the other moms said, it does end soon enough. PS. Keep trying with the bottle. They will take it eventually. I put my daughter onto my lap as if to breastfeed her and then stick a bottle in. Eventually it worked and she took a bottle.

Like a few other moms mentioned, it sounds like a growth spurt to me.  If you take hi into your bed with you just until it's over, it might make your life easier.

He is most likely going through a growth spurt. My daughter would sleep through the night but when she was going through a growth spurt she ate almost more than I could handle with breastfeeding alone. Everything goes back to normal when they are done with their spurt.

did you try any cereal yet? I know they reccomend that you don't start cereal until 4 months but my son was a hefty little bugger when he was born. He was ALWAYS hungry and was a breast fed baby. He got to the point right after 3 months where he was so hungry all the time. I felt like he was attached to the ninny all day long. I finally after a week of sleepless nights tried some cereal. I mixed it with what i had pumped so it was very thin and he gobbled it up. i think since he had something a little heavier in his belly he was a little more satisfied and slept SO much better. Also watch things you eat like chocolate onions garlic anything spicy and my big downfall was horseradish. Those things are pretty rough on a little tummy like his. Good luck and I hope you get some sleep soon.
