4 months an not rolling

My son is 4 months and 2 weeks old and seems to have no interest in trying to roll at all. He does other things like go backwards in his walker and jump in his jumper but just does not want to roll. Is this normal , is he not old enough to roll or am I missing something?

At this age, your baby shouldn't be spending time in a walker or jumper. Firstly, research has actually shown that use of a walker can delay development of physical milestones. Your baby needs to learn to sit, roll and crawl before she learns to walk. In fact, walkers are not recommended at all for children under 6 months old, and even then, there have been studies linked with delayed motor, visual, spatial and mental development.

So basically, it is possible your child's motor development (rolling) has been delayed by too much use of his walker and jumper. Try to give him a lot of tummy time, and interaction at a level that will give him the ability to practice the things he needs to practice to develop properly.
