Adding water to the milk?

My son just turned one and I am getting ready to start him with whole milk. My question is do I have to add water to his milk to start him with or do I have to give him as it is? I just hear conflicting opinions. Another question I have is what kind of mild do I have to get him? Is any whole milk ok or do I have to pick the one that says with vitamin D/DHA ? I am just wondering as he still is taking his poly vitamin. Thanks in advance for ur comments, they would be helpful as usual.

nancy, with my kids, I just did normal whole milk. However, I did introduce it gradully simply because the taste is different. You can introduce by mixing it with either breastmilk or formula intially just to get them used to it. I started out with one part whole milk, three parts formula, and gradually increased the ratios. It took about a month to fully wean them both from formula.
