My 7 year old son is adhd. Has been on vyvance for a couple months. He has problems sleeping. I've tried melatonin but doesnt seem to do anything. Dr perscribed clonopin. But I'm very nervous to have him try. Any suggestions ?

My son is also 7 with Adhd. He has trouble sleeping our gp said it is because his mind is very active, it has something to do with the neurone pathways. They suggested eating dinner earlier, warm baths with some scented bubble bath, fresh pyjamas every night. They said avoid reading to him late because it may make it hard for him to sleep. All of these things have helped my son has a much more regular sleeping pattern. If against medication I suggest you see a dietitian. My son is on ritalin and anxiety medication. Also, the gp said assure him that not being able to sleep is fine as if he is worried that he can't sleep it will be harder for him to sleep.
