Afraid to go in potty??

My daughter is just 2 1/2, and we are trying to start potty training. I thought I was prepared and attempted to start last weekend. We have a "baby potty" and a seat for the big potty. I bought a sticker chart, and a little treats as rewards for going to the potty. We started talking about it weeks before. I tried to use the method of just staying home all weekend, and putting her on the potty every half hour to an hour.
We have not had the success I may have hoped, I didn't expect a miracle, but she seems be un comfortable going on the potty, She doesn't mind sitting on it, but she doesn't go, then a few minutes have she gets off the potty she has an accident.
I am not sure how to assure her to go when she is on the potty, I tried bringing in things to distract her, books and things, but it hasn't seemed to work.
Any ideas or suggestions of what to try? Anyone kids experience this? She is in daycare 5 days a weeks, which doesn't make this any easier.
Thanks for any help.

I always asked my kids 20 minutes after they ate or had a drink, I would reward them with candy , everytime i went to the restroom my kids at that young of age would be right then and there and I would explain and go over what "mommy is doing." this really helped.
