Any recommendations on what the best birth control is? And, what are the side affects?

I am 29 and have never been on any form of birth control, my husband and I have two children 17 months apart and are reluctant to say we're done having children but also don't feel we could handle another one so close. I'm just looking for any recommendations on birth control because I am worried about starting something that I have no experience or knowledge on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
