My daughter won't take a bottle, I have purchased every bottle and sippy cup on the market !!!!! She won't drink formula !!! She won't drink cows milk....almond....ANYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She gags ! She cries and cries when I refuse breastfeeding, so I finally give in. I don't mind breast feeding her longer but she doesn't sleep through the night....never has ! The pediatrician said its because I am still breast feeding. She wakes anywhere from 3 - 10 times a night.....I AM EXHAUSTED !!!!

This is my 2nd child and didn't have to deal with any of these things with my 1st. My 1st cut me off at 8 months from bfeeding. She slept through the night at 4 months.

Any suggestions ???

She doesn't need a bottle or formula at this age, so definitely don't waste any more time trying those.

I can't really help with weaning advice at this age, but I will tell you that it is the age that I started gently 'night weaning' my son... who was up 1-5 times/night. It didn't stick til he was 2 though. Every night when I was nursing him at bedtime I would explain to him that he was a big boy now and didn't need to nurse again until the sun came up. Yeah... he would stop nursing, look up at me, and laugh when I would say that. lol Stinker! When he would wake up in the night I would tell him to go back to sleep cuz the sun wasn't up yet. At first I would still have to nurse him right away, but eventually he got to the point when I said that he would sometimes fuss or whine for a minute and then actually go back to sleep! Some nights he would still start to get really upset and those were always the nights that I would just nurse him back to sleep. Eventually the nights that he would go back to sleep on his own got more and more and about the time he turned 2.... he quit waking in the night completely (save for the rare illness or bad dream).

I know it took longer and was much more gentle than many people will advise, but we've had 2.5 years of great nights since and I wouldn't change a thing. It happened when HE was ready and I'm ok with that.
