Are there any other women besides me that still only wear long skirts and dresses anymore?

The first thing that we must understand when asking this question is that no one in the Bible wore pants. They did not exist back then—at least not in the form we have them today. Because of this, the Bible never dealt with the subject of women wearing pants.

As far as Scripture goes, the one most often used in such debates is Deuteronomy 22:5, which says: “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.”

I do think that ladies should still use wisdom in what kind of pants they wear, making sure that they are not too tight and don’t call too much attention to certain areas with flashy pockets, etc. As in wearing any article of clothing, we ought to determine whether it is wise and edifying to those who will see it before we put it on. Of course, at the same time that I hold that wearing pants is not unbiblical, I also believe that skirts are more ladylike and feminine. I think it would be good if all women wore skirts, as I am usually of the opinion that they are more flattering and that women would look all the better for wearing them.

Overall, I have found skirt-wearing to be an edifying practice, but that does not mean that I find wearing pants to be a sin in and of itself. Personally, I am very inclined to limit the times I wear pants, and of course I would encourage others to do so as well. But it’s not necessarily a matter of holiness or sinning. There are immodest pants and there are immodest skirts. There are times when wearing pants draws inappropriate attention and times when wearing skirts and dresses draws inappropriate attention.

In all cases and with everything we wear, we ought to use caution and good sense to determine if is appropriate for the situation and the people and/or culture with which we will be interacting. And of course, keeping in line with Deuteronomy 22:5, our attire ought to show that we embrace God's plan to make the genders distinct, giving no one the occasion to wonder if we are a man or a woman.

My husband loves it when I wear skirts and dresses, he says I look more sexual in skirts. Even boring black long skirts.

He says it's easy access ;-)

He also says that women in skirts cause him to imagine about their privates more. So women wearing dresses are really a stumbling block these days.

Yeah, if there is a God, I'm sure he's a bit more concerned about what's in your heart, instead of what's covering your ass.

Besides, considering the knockers most of we women have after having kids and breastfeeding, I don't think we need to worry all that much about being mistaken for men.

Lets just use adam and eves fashion sense. Since its straight out of the bible and all. Gotta love those fig leaves..:)

or we could just wear what we want to wear...if there is a god, i think it would be pretty silly of him to send someone to hell for not wearing a skirt, yet someone who murders another but believes in god gets to go to heaven.

that pesky john 3:16 mucking up the uber religious folks brainwashing!!

God doesnt "detest" any of us for we are His children. He loves us all regardless of our life choices, just as we on earth love our children unconditionally. yes, I believe in God and in Jesus Christ but the bible was written by earthly men, and rewritten many times over. The book is saturated with hate and does not represent a loving Father and the teachings and example of Christ.

Another reason I think that the bible was written by men who wanted to control society.
I can not think that any god would really give a rats ass whether or not his/her people were dressed at all.
Wearing pants does not make me a better or worse person than someone who wears skirts and dresses. In fact by making my own choices as to what I wear I am honouring my own ability to make choices.

Lol. So by your reasoning, men should wear skirts, too. And since you like to interpret this literally, I hope that you wear a head covering as well.

Oh noes? Skirts are women's clothing only? For sure.

I was forced to wear skirts and dresses every day for five years of my life. So glad I got out of that toxic environment.

I found skirt-wearing a distinctly non-edifying practice when I stepped on the hem and fell flat on my face on the floor.

This is utterly silly. What is your goal of this post?
