At what age should i stop giving my daughter the pacifier?

When my daughter was 1 and a half, i tried taking the pacifier away from her but than she wouldn't sleep or listen to me. She would cry until she got tired. I than gave it back to her. She is about to turn two in 3 weeks so I'm trying again, and she is just so hyper and she won't sleep till 5am. Should i give it back to her?

We let our now 6 year old make the choice when he was done with it.. He was 2.5 had just had surgery on his tear ducts, He woke up and looked at us and said NO I don't want it and I want underwear..I understand how hard it is to listen to then scream, cry and act out but what we did was cut the sucky part off of one and he had that for maybe 24 hours and that was the end of it, never had a major melt down at We had always told him that he had to give pacifier up to get big boy underwear... Best thing ever... We took care of to big things at one time... I know it was easier to take away the bottle at 6 months then it was to get him away from the pacifier...
I am very thankful my now almost 5 year old and 13 month old never wanted a pacifier... Hope this is helpful. Best Wishes and Take Care

Toss them away. She will finally learn that she is not getting them and she will be fine. They do throw fits like that sometimes when they have to learn to use a cup, loose the pacifier and other things. Its a part of them growing up but they do learn if you hold to your decisions.

Absolutely NOT. The more you give in to her, the more fits she'll throw, and the more you'll give in...and it's a vicious circle.

YOU are the parent. YOU make the decisions.
