Autism:Can it be cured

My son has Autism.If we start speech therapy by age 6 how much time will it take for him to become normal if he has started to say some words within 5 months of starting therapy and recognised almost everything?How many years will it take for my kid to become normal?Would he be able to lead a normal life like the rest of us:speak,learn,et cetera.?

From what I understand about autism it is not curable; however, many children with autism grow up into functional adults who live very full lives. It just depends on how severe your son's autism is. If he is on the milder end of the spectrum he could live what most people consider a "normal" life, but if he is on the severe end, or has other difficulties, then he might not have a "normal" life but he can still have a full and productive life.

Your best option is to find a good autism support group. I don't know where you live, but when I do a Google search for "autism support group" and include my area (I live in Canada) there are a number of support group sites that come up.
