My son also has acid reflux and is on 2 different medications for it. We had to elevate his crib so that he never lays down flat (especialy after eatting). We also have to add a thickener to his milk (Im pumping so that he can still have breast milk) its called Simple Thick. This is new to canada but has been used for years in the USA. you can check out there website. we were first told to use the formula with rice or just add pablum to the milk/formula. Then the ped dietation asked it we would try this product. He hasnt been sick yet since he started it and is now slowly taking less of his medication.

I have the same problem
I use Liquid Simuliac Sentative..
and you want to keep them sit up for 15 minutes before you lay them down

That would depend what the cause of his reflux is. Often the cause is an allergy or intolerance to diary and/or soy, so a good option would be hypoallergenic formula such as Nutramigen or Alimentum. If this isn't the case and you are certain (not by someone saying "that's not it" but by trying the different type of formula and proving it's not the cause), it would be a good idea to use one such as Enfamil AR (has rice in it). This may actually make him worse though, if he is aspirating at all.

Honestly, the best thing you can do is see a GI and request an Upper GI to see how severe the reflux is and if it's going into his lungs. Changing formula to either soy (if he's on dairy based) or hypoallergenic (if he's tried both soy and dairy based) would also be helpful. Going to a rice added type, or adding it on your own before having him evaluated, could make him much more ill.
