If he wants it, why not? Re bathing, dr. advised me to top and tail infants every 2nd day as the natural oils on baby's skin are removed by daily bathing, which can lead to skin irratations.

We only bathed Lily a few times a week in warm water no products - its better for their skin (not removing the natural oils too often), it saves water (which is a big thing in Aust at the moment) and it saves money (buying unecessary bath products). We started using bath wash at about 6 months in very small amounts...

You don't have to bathe a baby EVERY day. My daughter had extremely sensitive and dry skin, so we ended up only giving her a bath every second day, and we bathed her in QV oil (no soap products). Every other day, we just gave her a wash with a warm wet washer. Your doctor is absolutely right, a bath every day does remove the natural oils produced by the skin, especially if you are using soap products to help remove them.

Another reason you also shouldn't wash your hair with shampoos every day :)

From being about 3weeks old my daughter has had a bath every night (we didnt use any products until she was 6wks old) it helped relax her and calm her when she suffered with colic.

That's interesting Kate-I've never heard it. We bathe our son every day, just as he was in the NICU. I guess it all depends on who gives you what advice first. lol

If you're asking why not bathe a baby after your doctor has told you not to and WHY not to...then I think you should really think long and hard about that. You're basically asking moms if you should ignore the advice of your physician. My motherly answer? No. Don't bathe the baby every single day with soap. It can really irritate their skin.
