baby food is expensive. My husband and I moved through baby food as fast as we could- as soon as our kids were able to, we were giving them small mashed up or cut up bits of our tender food. Whatever we had for dinner, they got in smaller portions on thier high chair tray to feed to themselves. I provided utensils but at 9 months, fingers are the utensil of choice.

You're baby is rejecting baby food because she's ready to move on to more sophisticated things. Save yourself the money and stop buying the purees. Keep the gerber snacks for when you need the convenience on trips or when visiting people... and give her what you are eating.

Cut her food about as wide as her pinky to start with... Put small amounts on her tray at a time so she won't cram it all in at once and enjoy your freedom from the days of babyfood!

little ones will ususally tell you what they need if you only listen. he is plenty old enough for food. so try not to worry too much the more variety you offer him the less picky he will be later or at least that is the way it went with my 4. good luck

There is actually a movement for self-feeding where babies will skip the baby food phase and start eating soft solid foods around 7 months. I gave my little one a lot of solid foods starting at 7-8 months.

I started feeding my boys table food before they was one. It never hurt them. Of course,

I never seasoned the food I fed to them. If the food is organic, it's even better for them than the baby food.

Our son never ate baby food. I always homemade his food starting at 6 months. Now at 1 year old he eats pretty much what we eat. I think that at 9.5 months old your little one is ready for table food :) Good luck and enjoy!

I would start feeding something else, such as mashed adult food. You just have to make sure she can chew it, and the food is not spicy. Vegetables are a good place to start. Green beans and steamed carrots are great and just like the baby food with more texture. My children wouldn't eat baby food, but this seemed to work for them.

I've been there!!! My son was 7 1/2 months when he just stopped taking his purees cold. From one day to the next, he refused to take it. So my solution? I started him on the gerber toddler meals. He especially loves the mac & cheese ones, with the green beans. He's taken quite well to the adult food. Boil lots of veggies, like carrots and such. Meats are great, as long as they're really tender. Good luck!
