I was wondering if anyone else here took the pill. How long did it take them to conceive again once you stopped taking the pill?

i was on the pill for nearly 15 years the doctors said I should get off it asap if I wanted to get pregnant. I stopped in August and we were pregnant by September the same year.

I was on BC for 7 years, before I married my husbant and went off right away cause I wanted to get pregnant, It took me almost 3 years to get pregnant . Then used the "ryhtym" or "oops" method for 5 years when we got pregnant with our daughter. It's different with everybody . If you are worried about it see your ob/gyn. But I wouldn't worry  alot of times if you relax  and don't try so hard  it'll happen when you least expect it. Good Luck!

I had my daughter at the end of June, and 17 months later had my son! So if you figure August being 6 weeks, and I conceived in March...about 6-7 months!

I was on for 7 years and pregnant within 2 weeks of going off.

Although it is a persistent belief, I don't think that the idea that it stays in your system for 3 months is accurate. Think about it: you have to take a new pill every 24 hours, or it isn't effective. When you are on the pill, the period that you experience is sometimes called a "withdrawal period". That week of pills doesn't have any hormones in it and that's what signals your body to bleed. I asked my doctor about this when we were planning and she said the ONLY reason that some people caution you to wait 2-3 months after going off the pill (especially after a long time) is so you know what your regular cycle is and know whether you should try on day 14 or 16 or what have you. She said a good number of her patients got pregnant right away after stopping the pill.
Depo and some of the other hormonal methods may take longer.

I was on a form of birth control for 11 years and I came off it because I had heard people say it would take about month for every year to get pregnant, and my husband and I wanted to start trying.... I never got my next period!!! I got pregnant as soon as I came off it! We were amazed!

I had been taking the bill for nine years and once I stopped I got preggers about three months later. I did not think it would be that quick and was pregnant and did not know it until my husband made me go to the doctor after always feeling lightheaded and tired. Duh!

I was on the pill for about 7 years before I got pregnant, then I got pregnant within the first month I was off it. It's so different for every woman apparently!

i was on the pill since i was 13 (for very painful irregular periods) and went off just before my 22nd birthday (9 years).  i was pregnant by the second month. a liitle suprising because the doctors told my husband and i it could take 6months to a year but we're totally happy with our beautiful new addition!

Yes, I was on the pill since I was 17. When we decided to get pregnant, I went off the pill for three months, got my period right on schedule, counted 10 days after the first day of my period, which was when I would be ovulating, Had intercourse every other night and Bingo!! It was easier than I thought. As long as you are off the pill for three months, you should be good to go!!

I got pregnant after 2 months of going off the pill with my first. I had heard though it usually takes 3 months to a year, depending on several factors, including what pill you were using (I was on ortho tri-cyclen which is a very low-dose pill, so it didn't take long to get out of my system), how long you were on it, and how regular you are when you're off the pill. I was always regular (used the pill just for birth control, not regulating periods), and wasn't on it very long so I got lucky.

How long it takes to get pregnant is different for everyone and there are many factors that go into it. If you're under 35 it could take up to a year to concieve. If you're over 35 they recommend you see a doctor if you haven't conceived in 6 months. You just gotta try and see how it goes with you.

Cindy, they were right on with my EDD and I got pregnant after one period. It was changed from 1/9 to 1/18 back to 1/10 and he was born 1/12. They dated using an internal sonogram which they said was more accurate. But I did let them know that my period hadn't been normal so maybe they factored that in when doing measurements.

I must be too old (36 when I got pregnant with my 2nd chold), it took me about 8-9 months. I think there maybe other factors other than just stopping birth control, but don't be discourage if it does take a little longer. All the postings above are very lucky, I think.

From what I understand, you can ovulate in the first month after stopping the pill - however, they recommend that you use barrier methods until you have three months of your period so you'll have a more accurate EDD. I waited two months, then got preggo first time trying!

I was on the pill before my first pregnancy for 7 years.. I stopped taking right after we got married and less than a month later was preggo.. I lost that baby thought at 16 weeks.. and became pregnant again after one period, to my wonderful son.. I would recomend waiting  a few months after stopping the pill to get pregnant.. its better to be safe than sorry.. Good luck

I went off of the pill the first week of October 2006, I didn't ovulate for 2 months, but when I did, I got pregnant! I found out that I was 5 weeks on December 21st 2006. Once again, I NEVER had a period. My son is perfect and healthy! It is not true about what some people say about waiting until you have a period to start trying. There is no scientific facts to prove there is anything wrong with this except that you may not be able to pinpoint the day con conception.. Good luck!

I became pregnant on two different pills so I do not know what to say. I think my sister became pregnant within a month of stopping taking her pills.

I was on the pill for about 2 years when I stopped to conceive. I took the last of the pill end of February 2007 and had a positive test day after Mother's Day 2007. I thought it would take longer but it didn't. I only had one period and then was pregnant. I didn't have a period in my normal 28 day cycle though. I went all of March without a period.

[deleted account]

my doctor told me it is a guessing game. It normally can be around 3 months, but can happen sooner. When i went off the pill i got pregnant 3 months later.
